Hanging the Show
Jon helped me hang the my show at the Crandall Gallery in the Crandall Library in Glens Falls, NY today. He handed me hooks and told me when the quilts were straight and helped me decide where they should go. It’s so much easier with help.
I had intended to hang “Cut it Up” vertically with a long section of it resting on the floor, but I couldn’t in the space, so I thought I’d hang it horizontally going around a corner as I originally planned, but it wouldn’t fit that way either. So I decided to have some fun with it. It works pretty well, and I like that is isn’t flat on the wall, it has more dimension.

I hung 7 quilts. I wanted to hang some in the stairwell but the Library didn’t have a ladder big enough. The show is up till February 27th and the reception is Thursday, February 18th 5-7 pm. (I mistakenly had Saturday instead of Thursday printed on the invitation so I had to change it by hand. Next time I’ll have someone else proof read).

These look just beautiful. What a talent you are. Sounds like your best friend was a great help to you. It’s just wonderful being together when you’re in love. God bless both of you.

Hey Maria - the quilts look fantastic in the library, looks like a great space! We’ll be in Queens on 2/18 (Opening Reception), but we’re planning to stop by tomorrow to see the “hangings”… looking forward to strolling through and checking them out.

Beautiful! The quilts seem to work really well with the architectural elements of the space. Have a great reception!

Very nice space for your quilts, Maria.
Good luck with your show. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Maria, I would have been scared to death to stand on a ladder in a hallway where I could see way down from a huge height. My fav of the quilts is that long, narrow one that spans two walls. It is the most avant guard of the bunch.

Your show at the library is beautiful and unique, I appreciate it ever more as a quilter. The quilts were not hung with a dowel and sleeve, and I was wondering what that was in the corner of each quilt that you attached to the hanging hook. It looked like some sort of metal or fabric ring. Let me know if you get a chance. Thanks.
